Late night
encounter

The pollution of the light from the city sky was now gone, the stars, moon and passing aircraft were visible from almost any point in small rocky mountain path that lay in the outskirt territories. The night clear with overcast clouds but still, most of the natural night lights were visible. There wasn't much to the path, it was made up of loose dirt and every once in a while a bench was placed. Flowers and light foliage were common but not the whole way along the path.

Olin quite enjoyed taking his routine jog in the night along this path, there was much less of a chance that he would meet a random fan although he would look back on some nights to find some faithful stalkers. The life of a celebrity was a hard one and his routine jog helped him stay in shape, which in turn made him famous. Most of the time he didn't mind the fans and the fame but it was rare for him to meet new peoples without them knowing who he was and making a large deal out of it. At least here there seemed to be less peoples who knew about him. This job also helped Olin think about his life, he didn't like to dwell in the past but he still hasn't found a purpose in which he felt welcome with, most often he would blank out though and may as well have been running in his sleep as he drift away in thought.

Olin had to stop as his heart was racing, luckily there was a bench nearby and he leaned on it short of breath. He checked his pulse and in doing so noticed how much he was perspiring, he didn't like to sweat much because then he wouldn't look quite perfect like he always liked to. Satisfied with his heart-rate, he grabbed a silver, tin water bottle from his belt-pouch to drink. Water was welcomed to his slightly dehydrated body and as he tilt his head back to drink he looked up at the stars and again his thoughts began to drift into the night sky.

pick apart the pieces
of your heart let me peer inside let me in

when aurelia had first returned home a year ago - when the gravity of the entire situation really hit her, the fact that she'd been kidnapped and kept for years and years - the idea of walking anywhere alone terrified her. not only was she afraid of the same thing happening again, but she didn't know this world; it was foreign and dangerous, and any misstep could put her in peril, she thought. whenever she'd stepped out of the house, panic had seized her viciously and driven her back inside. to go outside had been to go into danger, and even inside wasn't safe. she knew that firsthand.

nowadays, though, aurelia seemed to have mostly conquered what her parents had explained to their friends as 'agoraphobia'. they'd slapped a pretty word onto it because they didn't want to admit that their daughter who had been missing for so long was terrified of being picked up again by things that weren't supposed to exist; if they claimed she had a fear, then it made more sense and they got more pitying looks. oh, aurelia knew that they were doing it to comfort themselves - she couldn't deny them that, since she sometimes tried to play the faerie ladies off as her imagination. maybe she'd been drugged, she reasoned; but drugged for twelve years?

aurelia gave a little sigh at that as she made her journey slowly along the outskirts of town. this was a path that she'd traveled many times before; without telling her parents, and late at night, so she felt more secure. the dark provided a hiding place that the sunlight didn't. however, as the young girl made her way down the path, she heard sounds - sounds that implied that she wasn't alone at all, like she'd hoped to be. she had wanted to escape from her parents' smothering attentions a find some peace and quiet for a while, but it seemed not even that wish could be granted today.

peering around the bend of the path, she spotted a young man. immediately, curiosity took over; what was he doing here? he looked like he'd been running, but - well, didn't people go to a park or something for that? not an abandoned path along the outskirts of town? didn't he know that there were faeries out here that might want to -

shaking her head, aurelia stepped back for a moment, debating. was it worth it, she wondered, to question his motives? decisively curious she was, but also rather terrified of speaking to him at all. then again, maybe it was a sign he showed up that she ought to talk to him.

taking in a deep breath, the flaxen-haired youth stepped out again, clearing her throat and awkwardly pulling her jacket more comfortably around her shoulders. "p-people don't usually go running around here," she began by way of explanation. "why are you-?"

Late night
encounter

It wasn't very long until Olin's body had calmed down a bit, he was forced to take a break because he wasn't used to the long paths of the outskirts and he slightly regretted not going to the park. He was ready to start making his way back now that he wasn't as sweaty or short of breath so he stopped gazing up at the stars and was about to begin his jog when he heard a voice behind him, obviously calling to him as he hadn't seen anyone else out here at night.

"Damn..." he thought to himself as he saw a blonde girl that stepped out to acknowledge him. She must have been quite the loyal fan to follow him up and outside the city to talk to him, or so he thought as well. Hopefully she had no recognition of who he was so his secret jogging routine would not be spoiled. He decided he would try to gauge her by not bringing anything up at first but she was obviously nervous talking to him. He sighed under his breath and kept his distance to her as he knew how crazy some fans were, one had even broken into his home and attempted to steal his nail clippings for whatever reason back in Romania.

"Apologies young lady but you'll have to speak up a bit if you're going to want me to hear you from over there." he replied through a still adapting accent to the girl whom he'd barely heard as he wasn't paying attention. The girl though didn't seem very old and although his fans were usually crazed teens he was slightly suspicious of the blonde in front of him. He hadn't been here in Dresden very long but he had rumors of creatures that go bump in the night. He was a bit skeptic about these claims but a young girl whom seemed like she could be a student was pretty far out from the city.

pick apart the pieces

the instant aurelia heard the boy - man? boy? where was the distinction, really? - sigh under his breath, she knew this had been a bad idea. some sort of panic was welling up inside of her like a wave building, waiting for the right words from the other man to crash over her and send her stuttering and looking even more like an idiot.

no, aurelia said firmly to herself. not today. i'm not going to run away, because - because people don't just run away from conversations, right? did they? sometimes she couldn't be so sure - after all, the majority of her life had been spent in an entirely different world just miles away from this one. truth be told, she wasn't even sure who this man was, just that he was here, out in the dark, apparently running around. did people do that?

again, that was another uncertainty aurelia wasn't willing to try and puzzle out just quite then. at the man's comment, her cheeks blossomed red and she look positively petrified. louder,, she thought desperately, i have to speak louder?

"i-i asked," aurelia pressed, swallowing thickly and willing her words to be louder, "what you were doing this far out and this late at night. people don't usually go running out here." confidence, she told herself, have confidence. "i would know. i'm out here a lot."

Late night
encounter

It was slightly noticeable now, Olin knew that the girl was not here for an autograph, lock of his hair, to tear his clothes off or something of the sorts. It was quite nice to perhaps have a decent conversation with someone but he could tell in the strain of the girl's voice that she was sh although what she said made him scoff a bit and he hid a slight frown. He shouldn't have to explain himself to her he thought but he quickly repressed the thought and shook his head a bit throwing it away.

Olin was still quite suspicious of her and he didn't take a step forward, he could see the girl in the bright moon light and despite only hearing rumors of creatures in the night they were quite frequently brought up by the locals. Something he still didn't quite understand being somewhat of an outsider. He lowered his hood and turned off his music removing his ear-pieces in respect and simply put them in his pocket.

"I was simply out taking a jog, I have to keep myself in shape and I just love the mountain air milady." he replied with a slight bow. "The mountain air is so refreshing and far away from the city and all of it's lights you can actually see the beautiful stars." he continued as he rubbed his chin slightly. His muscles were beginning to rest now that he wasn't jogging and that made them ache, he realized now that he might have to walk home or have his chauffeur pick him up. "I wonder myself though, what might you be doing here as well? It's quite late and you look quite a few years younger than I."

pick apart the pieces
of your heart let me peer inside let me in

in fact, aurelia's reason for being there wasn't not to rip of the man's clothes like some foaming-at-the-mouth fan girl. she didn't even know who he was, and the fact that she managing to hold any sort of conversation at all with him in itself was a miracle. the few words she'd exchanged with this man were more than she'd exchanged with a lot of people as of late. it wasn't that she didn't like people; it was just that... well, speaking to them - dealing with the fact that they might judging her, or making assumptions about her that weren't true - left her chest feeling tight and anxious, so she tended to leave her conversations with kids at school to a rousing hi, pardon me, please excuse me, sorry and that was about it.

"people take jogs this late at night?" aurelia heard herself ask before she could think over what she was saying. well, obviously people took jogs at night - here, standing in front of her, was a living example of such a truth. but it didn't change the fact that she thought the action was still a bit odd. however, she was the one who was talking walks late at night, but her reason was far more personal than to just get her daily dose of outdoor time; while she figured this man was jogging to keep his body in shape, she was walking around to escape.

"s-sorry," she apologized, quickly. "it's just that it seems odd that you wouldn't simply jog in the sunshine, to see all of the flowers and trees and -" she was making a fool of herself. she knew it. cheeks blossoming a bright red, she cleared her throat and shifted on her feet, pulling her coat a little tighter around her. the blonde took in a few breaths at his question before answering. "i'm not that young," aurelia muttered under her breath, because she didn't feel so young. she felt older than her years. "well, um, it's just - it gets crowded, you know? crowded and noisy, so sometimes i come out here to walk to quiet all the sounds. if that makes sense."
